Study Four.

In the last study we looked at just one of the facets of the strategy of satan and I believe it is very important that we are aware of his claim to that part of our lives which we fail to allow the Lord, our Holy God, to have for His own. It is because of the importance of his right to accuse us before God and the disastrous outcome, that we have spent the whole evening discussing it. But please remember we have the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ and nothing can harm us when we put on God's armour. However there are many methods which satan uses to attacks us. In fact if we confined his efforts to just a few, we would become extremely vulnerable and our effectiveness would be destroyed.

It is also important to recognise the defence mechanism which God has provided for us and the clear teaching there is to provide that clear glass for God to use.

It is less fearful for us when we realise that we are not on our own. We are "made" holy by God. We are not on our own. We have God's love, God's power, God's direction to help us (empower us).

It was the custom in the days of Christ for the bridegroom to give the bride a clean white gown on betrothal and it was her task to adorn her garment in preparation for her wedding, fittingly adorned to please her bridegroom. And it is just this which the scriptures refer to when they say the church would be presented to Christ as a bride adorned for her husband.

We are taught that we are the temple of the Holy Spirit and we should keep it holy which is our reasonable service. Living a life which is beyond reproach. How far is beyond?

    To sum up.

There is no question that we could ever earn our way or work our way to Heaven.

There is no question that we could even maintain our salvation by being a good person. The Lord tells us to work out our salvation, not work it in to our lives.

However, we are constantly being reminded that we should keep ourselves holy and acceptable unto God which is our reasonable service. Our duty should be in response to His love and everything He has given to us. There is a song sung by a lady called Marilla. One of the verses portrays Jesus Christ saying to us "Everything I am and everything I do I give to you". In the last verses she sings our personal response "Everything I am and everything I do I give to You".
