The Contractor
There was a very rich contractor that decided that he would hire a few teams to complete a task for Him. Each of the team leaders received a manual on how things were done, on how things should be built and how they should be fixed. He spoke to each of the leaders and said, “Do you understand what needs to be done?” And they replied “Yes, we do.” “I believe it very easy.” “No problem,” said another one. And the contractor left.
The contractor heard nothing from these people, and yet, they would argue amongst each other on how they interpreted these plans, and how they should be built. One said, “I think it should be like this,” and the other said “It should be like that. I believe three of cement and one of sand.” “No, three of sand and one of cement,” they said.
The contractor had told them if there were any problems to give Him a ring. And they did ring Him, and they rang Him and asked for an advance on their wages. They rang and they asked if they could have the day off because their wife was sick. They asked if they could take the children to school, and be late in to work and none of them asked, “How do we do this task that you have given us?”
Instead of asking the contractor, the team leaders would ask other workers in different areas of the town and they would arrive and say, “Oh, that’s easy. We do it like this and we do it like that. This is the way to do it.” And the team leaders would listen to these people that they had asked from the outside to come in and help them solve their problems.
Time went by and the contractor called and saw the mess that lay before Him. He called the team leaders together and He spoke to them and said, “Why did you not call Me, for I gave you my cell phone and told you that I’m available twenty four hours a day, seven days a week, and that I would answer any question you had on the job that I have before you. They spoke, “We were afraid that you would fire us because we did not know what to do, so we asked these other people.”
The contractor said, “The people you have asked are my opposition and they have told you how to build shoddily, that buildings would fall down and that I would go out of business. I gave you my phone number and I told you I would listen whenever you called and I would tell you how to complete the task that I had given you. I gave you the plans and I gave you the instructions. The important thing was that I could clarify what I gave you if you called Me.” And with that He fired the men.
You see, if you don’t ask the right people then you will get the answer from the enemy. It’s important that you ask, and that you pray that you will receive the answer. It amuses me that you have finally understood what I have said.
This story was you, before you understood what I said, that you did not ask but you expected it to come as the plan said it would, and yet you needed to ask because you did not know and yet you expected Me to do it for you. I gave you a task. I told you it would be done just as the contractor told His people it would be done, but they still had to build the building. It did not build itself because there was a plan laid in front of them. The plan is only the first stage of the building. Physical labour is needed to build the building. The plan will say it will be there but it is not built. It is still only a piece of paper. It is not a building. I have given you the plan and I have told you what the plan will look like. You need to build the building.
I do not ask you to build it on your own. I have given you each other and I have given you keys time and time again that there is prayer that needs to be put in. For the prayer is the concrete and the prayer is the bricks. Prayer is the answer and prayer will build the building from the plan. It will not be built by the advice of others. It will only be built by the prayer to God and God’s answer to you. Remember that you need to pray. You need to act. You need to mix the concrete. It will not mix itself from paper for all you can build with paper is a paper house and that will not stand; for this house should be built with good foundation and foundation is the prayer. But I am pleased that you understand but also now beware that the contractor’s opposition will try to stop you because he knows that you understood.
He will not come at your front door, but at your back door, your windows, anywhere there is a gap. Remember that the contractor will come back. He does not want to see a mess but rather a beautiful building because what you build is to honour Him and not to honour yourself; because honour will come to you for doing what you are meant to do. For, if you build the building as it should be built, then the contractor will say, “Well done, faithful servant.”
Think on these words and understand there is a key that you should always remember. I hope you understand what I say. It is one thing to understand, and another thing to continue doing what you know to be true. |
