The land

    It has been apparent for a long time that the land is very important in a spiritual sense, not only to the Jews but also to us, the gentiles. It is with this in mind that we feel the direction to evaluate some teaching on this subject.

    The land to the Jewish people was an inheritance from God, a promise which was only partially fulfilled during the Old Testament times. This probably won’t be fulfilled until the Jewish people accept Christ as the Messiah. Perhaps this is a rash statement but consider the principles of God and how He hates to see people attempt to do things, even His desires, without Him.

    As we have moved around in this work, we have had to deal with spiritual things, which bother either our family or us in unexplainable ways. It may be in dreams or visitations or sometimes just a presence but often enough it is something which affects our life or lifestyle in a very real and dramatic way.

    When we consider the "haunted house" or the "graveyard" or even the presence of items with spiritual significance, we realise that there is work to be done for the Lord

    The major limitation we have in dealing with these issues is the understanding and willingness of the people concerned. Just as in the case of articles which may have evil spirits attached, some people have difficulty in accepting this, especially if they are the ones who bought them/it, or brought it back from overseas.

    To understand this aspect of land we need to look at some verses in the Old Testament. So let us start with Numbers ch35 Here we have a description of a system God set up to provide a means of escape for those seeking protection from harm following an accidental killing. There are several statements of note that we need to look at.

1. The cities of refuge were to be six of the forty-eight cities, which were allocated to the Levites v6.
2. As christians, we are the priests of today. Rev ch1 v6.
3. They were for the protection of any person, Jew or Gentile alike, v15 who had accidentally killed or was awaiting trail before the assembly. v12.
4. Whether prior to or after the trial the innocent person was to be protected in the city of refuge. v25.
5. The person must not be allowed to return to his own land, even for a bribe, until after the death of the High Priest. v28 & v32.
6. The land must not be polluted by the shedding of blood and blood must be shed to cleanse it in this case, either the person who killed or that of the High Priest v33 & v32

    And also in Joshua ch6 the city of Jericho was cursed. The principle is established that a piece of land can be cursed. This city site is barren to this day.

    In Deuteronomy ch21 v22-23 we are told that the man who had committed a crime worthy of death was to be put to death by hanging on a tree. And here the point is made that he should not be left to hang overnight, that he should be buried that day so that the land should not be defiled which the Lord God had given as an inheritance

    Today of course Jesus Christ is our Most High Priest, after the order of Melchizedek. Read Hebrews ch7 and ch8. To this end, as Jesus Christ died on the cross and shed His blood in that position as Most High Priest and became a curse for us, He made it possible for the land to be cleansed.

    Alongside that, we must remember that land can be healed as in 2 Chronicles ch7 v14. I quote "If my people which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.

    Today of course the battle is still on for the land and sad to say there are many countries where a great deal of human blood is shed in an attempt to claim the land for nations and peoples of the world. Sometimes this is done in the name of christianity. God forbid that we should cause criticism of His ways by doing anything which does not express His love.

    As stated in Encyclopedia Britannica, and also in our experience, the shaman religion has extended right across the Pacific entangling the people in a system of fear and terror, allowing the witchdoctor to take control and manipulate people. One way in which this is done is to bury or deposit a mixture of bone ash, feathers, and a few other components in or on the land. This is a base point, which indicates to the evil spirits that they are welcome there. The people who fear these spirits are terrorised and without the knowledge of God and His power can do little but suffer.

    Those of us who were gifted in this area were able to sense the presence of these things and deal with them accordingly. We have done that by walking the circumference of a property, anointing the corners of the land with oil, commanding any evil spirits to go to the place that Jesus would send them and asking the Lord God Almighty to surround the property with His protection.

    Where blood has been shed on the land, as in the case of "haunted houses" one must remind the offending spirit who is impersonating a previous associate with the property, that the Most High Priest has died on the cross at Calvary. His blood has been shed, we have His authority over any evil spirit, even necromancy spirits and they must go to the place where Jesus sends them.

. Jesus Christ is Lord

    In many cases we have had to deal with this land issue. Praise is unto God for his power, His authority; His leading as He and He alone has cleansed and healed the land.

    I believe that we all should go about this procedure of cleansing the land and the house we live in to ensure that the devil does not get a foothold into our lives.

    On a national level we also should pray for our country especially in the area of cleansing the land However, that is another subject and will be dealt with in a separate study.
