 Real Royalty

Biblical Deliverance Ministries

I suppose that if we consider what royalty means to us we would conjure up ideas of the royal family in England or perhaps a prince or a princess of wherever. The pomp and the ceremony, the suggestion of wealth, that goes with these people wherever they go. The constant media attention, showing the whole world every thing done.

But these situations are only man made, either by inheritance, or brute force, or control and manipulation, or by democratic election. The people might have power because of their station but in reality they are only human, they are vulnerable to sickness, emotional pressure, to death, and spiritual influence just as all of us are.

It is so very easy for us to consider our Lord to be our friend our mate, as He demonstrates His humanity, someone we chatter to all the time and this is good but let us not forget who our mate really is. It is so easy to listen to a mate and hear or read what advice he/she has to give. Then go and consider our own decisions to be much wiser. How many times do we do this to our God? Here our Mate is in reality the Holy God. Don’t you think that this is awesome? Royalty in its ultimate highest form. Here is one who has been called the King of kings, Lord of lords, whose Majesty is beyond comprehension.

We could never fully describe the Kingship of our God but the Lord gives us small glimpses in His word. Read Isaiah ch6 v1-4 Revelation ch4 and ch5

There is an interesting verse 2 Peter ch1 v16-18 Here Peter talks of being eyewitnesses to His majesty. For He received honour and glory from God the Father when the voice came to Him from the majestic glory, saying "This is my son whom I love, with him I am well pleased"

In the olden days, in the age of kings, royalty was a precarious position to be in. The likelihood of being murdered be some family member who was after the throne was very high. History tells of this many times over and even today with our modern democratic system the cues or lobbying for one person or another are prevalent.

The scriptures tell us of this happening in 2 Kings ch11 v1-3, in 2 Kings ch25 v25 and also in 2 Chronicles ch22 v10.

In Isaiah ch62 v3 we are told that the city of our God, Jerusalem, will be a crown of splendour in the Lord’s hand a royal diadem in the hand of our God. See over the years the attacks against this City and what it stands for.

It is clear to see that the opposition, satan himself, has attempted to destroy the royal seed as in Jesus the Son of God, both in the desert and on the cross. As he was unable to thwart to plans of God, in providing the way of salvation he targets us in our position of children of God the King of Kings. Beware and be Prepared. We of course are also protected by the power, and the blood of Jesus Christ, provided, we put on the armour of God in its entirety.

In Ephesians ch2 we are upheld in the heavenlies in the ages to come as the proof of his grace. The result of the success of His plan of salvation when He died and rose again on the cross at Calvary dealing with our sin forever. This grace, (the unmerited favour of God) which frees us from the penalty of our sin is often bandied around as an excuse for mankind to continue to live a life which is unacceptable to God. In the following paragraph we learn what ought to be the automatic reaction to God’s gift to us.

In Titus ch2 v11-15 we are told "For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men. It teaches us to say "No" to ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self controlled upright and godly lives in this present age, while we wait for the blessed hope -- the glorious appearing of our great God and Saviour, Jesus Christ, who gave himself for us to redeem us from all wickedness and to purify for himself a people that are his very own, eager to do what is good. These then are the things you should teach. Encourage and rebuke with all authority. Do not let anyone despise you."

In James ch2 v8-13 tells us that there is a royal law that is "To love your neighbour as yourself" It also tells us that if we are guilty of breaking part of the law we are guilty of all. We should "speak and act as those who are going to be judged by the law that gives freedom. Because judgement without mercy will be shown to anyone who has not been merciful. Mercy triumphs over judgement!"

1 Peter ch2 v5 tells us we are "to be a holy priesthood, offering spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ."

I Peter ch2 v9-10 These verses tell us something very special. It tells us that "we are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people belonging to God, that you may declare the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light. Once you were not a people, but now you are the people of God; once you had not received mercy but now you have received mercy."

What is the purpose of a priest? Certainly the robes of Aaron were quite beautiful, brightly coloured and ornamented with precious stones. Should we then as priests sit about and look pretty? Shouldn’t we be doing something???? In the Old Testament the priestly work was manifold but broadly speaking there were two facets.

1 The bringing of sacrifices and offerings to God

2 To represent God to the people

It is important for us to realise that the first scripture we read in Peter links holiness with offering spiritual sacrifices to God. A holy priesthood.

Peter connects a holy priesthood with the concept of being holy with the obvious responsibility. So I believe it is appropriate to consider a royal priesthood as being royal with the responsibility that goes with that.

It is important also, to realise that v9 links royalty with the concept of declaring the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His wonderful light. A royal priesthood.

What then is our responsibility as a real royal priesthood? Do we offer our lives, and our will to our God daily? Do we daily proclaim the praises of God to the people around us? Do we naturally and sincerely display the greatness of our God in both our deeds and words? Do we stand against the prophets of Baal as Elijah did in today’s world by opposing the detestable practices of Deuteronomy ch18 in the name of Jesus Christ?

DO WE? DO WE? DO WE? DO WE? DO WE?
